| My personal review on: Advance Wars: Days of Ruin Unless you wish to see the overviews of each category first ignore this (scores given) - Spoiler:
Gameplay: 9/10 Sound: 8.5/10 Graphics: 8/10 Value (my overall rating): 9/10 Price: 10/10
Average: 8.9/10
Overview of Gameplay: - Spoiler:
Overall, the game plays smoothly, with really balanced units and multiple subtle changes (and bigger changes) from the old games. The gameplay is smooth and past exploits have been fixed from older games. Combine a simple enough concept with an easy learning curve makes it a great game. However, competitively, can keep you on the same map for a long time fighting another skilled fighter. A solid game thats fit for all. The only things noticeable is the one CO's (caulder) imbalance in the game but fortunetly he can't be used on wi-fi for competitive play. There are also a few imba stages that can sometimes appear on wi-fi but those are rare.
Overview of Sound: - Spoiler:
The sound for this game are all techno metal/rock, as usual. With a couple of orchestra-sih songs tossed in for the cinematics or cutscenes etc... Only a few of the 50 songs stick out though for me but overall they are quite good.
Overview of Graphics: - Spoiler:
The graphics for this game vary GREATLY from the original games, with a much darker tone and a sort of "drawn" effect to the game. Cut scenes are pretty fun to watch most of the time and you can watch 'em slo-mo or sped up as well (L and R buttons). The selection screens are easy to figure out but at the same time cool looking which scores points.
Overview of Value: - Spoiler:
Overall, I think the campaign is MUCH too short and easy (except for the last 6 misisons) and they took out the campaign funds aspect of the game! (where you could spend your hard earned credits on COs, maps, other stuff, etc...) Which seriously takes from the game . The game is solid however and a great fun to play as long as you have wi-fi and enjoy creting custom maps. The best way to enjoy this game is to enter wi-fi battles and/or entering forums and creating battles with friends.
Overview of Price: - Spoiler:
At a very low price (less than 40 bucks everywhere I believe) this game buys cheap and almost anybody can afford it (and the classic DSs if you don't want to spend cash on a Lite (I have a classic since the first DSs still lol)). Within everybodies' wallet range, 10 star here.
Final Words - Spoiler:
So although they diverted from almost EVERYTHING that had to do with the classic 3 games, they added a bunch of new stuff to replace it, some better, some worse. The general concept and structures and units are all there (for the most part) so it still has the feel of it. It is as good as the others instead of enhancing the experience. I personally like this game and it's for anybody that likes tactic games and enjoys spending time on strategies. Everybody with a creative side will enjoy the map editor that can be from 25 to 900 squares big with a multitude of objects to use. And now I hope you enjoyed this review and please post comments about it or the game. TY for reading this far
